Spectra of the reflectance of a New Zealand Gala apple
The three spectra shown in the above chart are of the surface reflectance of the apple whose image is shown above. These three spectra were take by Bud Wood of Ancal using an Ocean Optics S1000 spectrometer, illumination was by sunlight, referenced to a CDH-50 standard white (of Albrillon).
The spectrum shown as number 1 is the reflectance from a very bright red section on the apple. The spectrum shown as number 2 is the reflectance from a deeper red, as it occurs in small strips on the apple. The spectrum shown as number 3 is from a yellow portion of the apple. All spectra show that use of sunlight as a source of illumination is valid provided the sunlight is referenced to a standard white.
