ANCAL's new type ALC field pack combines a gas discharge lamp with a standard power supply (with 9V battery) in a compact, portable package. These field packs are lightweight and small enough to fit in a pocket or carried by the belt clip attached to the power supply. They are available with various discharge lamps, both in an external lamp model (ALC-02) and an internal lamp model (ALC-03). The internal lamp model comes with an SMA fiber optic connector, for direct connection to a fiber optic cable.
The ALC field packs are primarily used for wavelength calibrations of most all types. They are especially useful for wavelength calibrations of fiber optic spectrometers. The field packs are also useful for photochemistry and fluorescence applications as well as being used as specialized light sources.
Field Packs are available with a choice of options. The standard field pack is model ALC-03H (mercury argon lamp) with an SMA connector which is recommended for wavelength calibrations. Field packs having other gas discharge lamps, including neon and xenon are available, both in external and internal lamp configurations.
