(*Note: If the spectrophotometer system is to be used only for above 400 nm spectral measurements, the LS-1 long life source is recommended for use rather than the PX-1)
The LS-1 Tungsten Halogen Lamp is a versatile white-light source optimized for the VIS through Shortwave NIR (360 nm-2 µm). The lamp offers high color temperature, extremely efficient output and very long life, in a compact, economical package.
The LS-1 is available with either a 900-hour (standard) bulb or a 10,000-hour (long-life) bulb; replacement bulbs are also available. The 900-hour bulb has a 3100 K color temperature; the 10,000-hour bulb has a 2800 K color temperature.
The LS-1 comes with a 12VDC power supply (a European power supply is also available) and power cord.

The LS-1 has an SMA 905 connector for easy coupling to Ocean Optics fiber optic spectrometers and accessories, including optical fibers, cuvette holders, and probes. What's more, a built-in slot (in photo at right, directly above the LS-1 label) accepts color-correcting and longpass filters up to 3 mm in thickness.
The Tungsten Halogen Light Source is $479 for the 900-hour bulb version (LS-1) and $529 for the 10,000-hour long-life version (LS-1-LL). Replacement bulbs are $45 (LS-1-B) and $55 (LS-1-LL-B), respectively.
The LS-1 is useful for a variety of spectroscopic applications, including chemical analysis, reflectivity of solid objects, and color measurement.

* * If used with an Ocean Optics spectrometer, the LS-1 has, for practical purposes, a spectral range limited to the spectral response of the detector for the S1000, approximately 1000 nm (1.0 micron); for the S2000, approximately 1100 nm (1.1 microns).
